How sustainable and climate friendly is your Club?
Rotary action is successfully making the world a better place. But all Rotarian activities, e.g. traveling to conferences and events, also cause CO2 emissions that contribute to climate change. Climate change already has a negative impact on many Rotarians and other people worldwide – and the consequences for our grandchildren will be much worse if we do not act now. We do not want reduced Rotary activities but let us conduct as many of them as possible in a carbon-clever way!
The Become Sustainable! project was founded in 2022 by Rotary Club München-Residenz to help Rotarians, other clubs and districts to become climate-friendly and sustainable. We have developed the tools for CO2 footprint and handprint calculation and we have developed the Rotary handprint counter and the underlying database. The project is supported by many Rotaractors and Rotarians from other clubs worldwide.
The Become Sustainable! project is the central service partner of the Rotarian “Climate Solution Task Force” (CSTF). CSTF is a global initiative of Rotarians to make Rotary net zero until 2040. Become Sustainable! also works closely together with the Rotary “Every-Club-Climate-Friendly” (ECCF) initiative.
